Hello I found a 116 SS its a long action, in excellent cond. for a good price, the back of the bolt has a slot for a screw driver, is this a stagger feed rifle, and is this a good thing? I cant take it apart yet its a two hr. drive, thanks.

That's an older Savage. Therefore it is a staggerfeed. Nothing wrong with either type.
One thing I like is you can load a single shell into the chamber easier with the staggered feed guns. I prefer them over the center feed guns.
