    Long Range .260

    hey guys, greetings from australia.
so after a few trips out with the savage 12 LRP (target action with DBM) in it's factory form with very promising results i decided that this rifle was worthy of becoming my long range project rifle. Friday the mailman delivered an XLR evolution chassis.

got to excited to do a hell of a lot of load testing yet but decided to stretch it's legs out to 900yds

the bottom 2 shots were sighting and adjusted after those then a 10 shot grp
then just for fun we found a spot to run it out to 1200m (1312yds to you guys )

Loads were 139gr lapua scenars in front of 42.5gr of ADI 2209 (equiv of H4350)

    Beauty gun.: )

What are your loads and what kind of impact are they arriving with at 1000+ yds? Just curious.

I have an LRP too and it rocks. It's not in a XLR chassis yet, but will be. Lovely rifle and great shooting!

I am a new member, and this is the first post I viewed. Just wanted to say that I own a lrp in 6.5 creedmoor and absolutely can't say enough good about it. Awesome rifles.

    Hi Mate

    I'm an Aussie too

Where did you get your action from and if you don't mind me asking how much?

My Plan is pretty much the same as your rifle expert in 6.5x47 Laupua

Local dealer ordered it from nioa. Your nearest gun shop should be able to as well otherwise shooters.com.au will ship to your house as well

What load did you settle on? I built a Mega Maten with a Lilja 260 barrel that was wicked accurate. I was running the Hornady 140 Amax over 44.5g of H4350 at 2840 FPS. It was a sweet rifle that I sold because someone offered me a ridiculous price for it. I now have a Savage 12 in an XLR chasis with a Shilen .308 barrel. I'm thinking of going back to .260.

    Nice rifle Mate!

With running them in the XLR chasis are there any mods need or just stright bolt in ?

Straight bolt in unless it's .223 it will need a mod to the bolt stop to pick up from the aics mag I believe

got all the rails and and front bag rider (the rails are for looks only) the bag rider is beautful.

made this "bag" for my front rest which is wood lined with soft rubber covered in pool table felt and it slides through there like a dream

Very nice. Looking forward for my Model 12 varmint action and Criterion match barrel in 260 Rem to come in from Jim at NSS. 4350 powder is almost non-existent around these parts, but have some Reloder 19 sitting around, along with some Silver State Armory and Lapua brass.

Not sure I can duplicate that performance, but will be fun giving it a go.

Yeah no kidding! I'm thinking about a 6XC and a 6.5 Creedmoor or 260AI build....
