    What height rings?

Thinking about getting a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50, one of the original Vipers. First venture into 30mm scopes. Would like to use Burris signature zee rings. How tall should the rings be with an EGW 0 or 20 MOA rail and a factory varmint barrel. Would like it to be as low as possible.

    Thanks,
    Dana

I had a set of mediums holding a 44mm scope on a standard Weaver 1pc base on a LA and with 20MOA raising the rear and it just barely cleared a Varmint barrel. I am willing to bet if you are going to use a 20MOA rail you will need the High rings.

Just curious, why go with a 20MOA rail when the Sig Zee rings can easily give you the 20MOA with the offset inserts?

'cause I have an extra one laying around and don't have the offset inserts.

10-4. Gotta roll with what you got. I was assuming you need to purchase a base also.

If it were me I'd spend the couple of bucks for the inserts and save your base for a later build if you have a 0MOA base otherwise. But if you had to buy a 0 MOA then you may as well go with what you have.

Thanks Boots. Got a 0 MOA on the bench too. Saw on Burris' site that the rings come with extra +/-.010 inserts. Might go that route.

I have that scope on a egw base flat on the 22-250 and 20moa on 308 with the burris medium tactical rings if that helps with some comparison. I think I could get away with lows, if it were not for the $50 and having to rework my cheek risers I would try the lows.

Got the mediums and still have about 1/8" between the scope cover and the barrel. Didn't find any Signature lows, but they might have been too low.

The Viper is kinda beefy. Can't wait to take it to the range.

Camera Land rocks, but y'all knew that.

    Thanks...
