    Adams Bennett barrel test

I bought a Adams Bennett barrel from midway. Its a varmint weight, blue, 22-250. I have never had a 22-250 before and my dad just bought one for pdogs. Since I do all his reloading, I thought I may as well have one too. I didnt want to have a lot invested, so for 139.00 I took a chance. Well I have to admit, Im very pleased. I worked up loads to test for both guns. 20 rounds of each load, 5 loads. We shot his new savage and one of my old ones with the new barrel side by side. By the time we were out of test rounds, both guns were grouping well under moa. The A & B barrel had 5 in one ragged hole with its preferred load, which were the last 5 shot. I was sure the savage would shoot, and it did... We didnt clean either barrel till after each had shot all 50 rounds we had planned on testing. It pulled no more copper than the savage barrel. I may have got lucky, but this seems to be good one. Bill

Does anyone else out there have any experiences with these barrels? I have been contemplating getting one myself, I figure for $140 if it shoots 3/4 moa as most reports state, you really can't go wrong.

I have had three A&B barrels and all were as good or better than the stock Savage barrels. The finish on all three was better than the factory barrels.

    .

Think I have at least a couple of A&B barrels in every caliber they ever offered.

Best I can tell bullets go down the barrel and hit the target.

Yep I have one that is in 22-250 dropped it in a b c duramax stock Have a BSA 8-32 on it for hunting groundhogs 32.9 grns of varget 60 grn sierra shoots 5 shot groups .579 @ 200 yrds best group I have shot @ 200 yrds .3168 Now these are measured outside to outside MAX SPREAD!! the only problem I have found is after you clean them up ( kroil ,sweets 7.62, 10X ) and oil them up to put them to bed When you take them to the range again to shoot it takes 10 -12 rnds for it to tighten up (dirty it up ) I would buy another one again if i shoot this one out ;D

I picked one up in 250-3000 and when I shortenned it to 20" we found the bore was slightly off center BUT it shoots very well and will keep it on the rifle. I'm thinking about another in 221.

Bore being off center is not that uncommon. Especially if its a ruger.

Midway is where they come from. Just do a search on midway for savage barrels. Shilen and A and B should come up. Bill

    Midway's search doesnt help much.
don't know how to post a link. heres how I found them.
    Go to Midway
    under gunsmithing
    parts by make and model
    savage
    after that click on 110
    then click on barrels

Why there not under10 I don't know. Hope this helps.
