If it comes lose and you don't notice you may hit it with a round causing catastrophic damage. If this is for the 204 ruger you posted about it really wont make a difference anyway

Yup it would be for my .204, I have a local gun builder that swears it will make a world of difference. I'm not convinced, so I thought about trying a clamp on type. I'll probably pass on one though. After all it only has 2.6 pounds of recoil with a 8.5 pound gun anyway.

Your local gun builder must have something mixed up. Do yourself a favor and avoid a brake on the 204. It has no recoil worth mentioning, the extra noise and dirt it will kick up to reduce the non-existent recoil, along with the additional cost is not worth it.

Yeah save your money for brass and powder...a break on a .204 is hardly worth investing in a the round has no recoil to begin with. As 1shot mentioned all it will do is increase noise and kick up dirt when shooting prone.

The 204 is loud enough already with very minimal recoil so I can't see putting a scope on it unless you had really bad neck problems.

There is one brake you could consider and that is the que brake sold at brownells. It is a heat and slip on type and it holds and wont come off unless you heat it up again with a propane torch. You have to measure the muzzle at a certain distance that brownells can tell you and they will sell you the correct diameter one to be installed. It is functionally the same as the browning accu brake or whatever it is called sort of like a barrel tuner.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
