Might give Limbsaver a call to see if they have a direct fit replacement pad available.
I picked up a Savage FCP-SR. I really like the rifle, but on the first outing, the recoil pad got a tear in it.
The pad is made of some really soft rubber.
Is there a replacement that would hold up better, still absorb recoil and have the same profile and screw spacing as the factory part?

When I ordered the thumb hole stock from Boyds I also ordered the Pachmayr recoil pad. I used a hand held belt sander in a vise and it worked out well. I did slip a bit and it went through the last layer of painters tape. Now I have a very small scratch next to the pad, but it's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. I could have paid Boyds to cut it down for me, but I got more satisfaction from me doing it. I did chicken out and couldn't grind any more with only one layer of tape left. Of course this was after I went through the last 2 layers and nicked the stock. All n All I'm very satisfied with it, specially since it was my first.
The video below is what I used for directions. Very Satisfied...and the Mule 300 WM doesn't kick my butt after 10 rounds lol.
