    My Savage Axis Build Finished

Hey just wanted to show my savage axis its a .308 when I got it there was nothing it was just a plain rifle. I used Weaver Scope Mounts and Weaver High see through scope rings. Then I put on the Barska 10-40x50mm Mildot sight that has a 3inch sunshade on it. On the front I have a Blackhawk Sportster Bipod, on the back I have the Blackhawk Raised Cheek Pad. I also made a DIY Monopod that cost me about $5 total to make it I use a 1/4inch threaded stainless steel rod 6inches long, a wooden dowel, and a 1/4 stainless steel nut. I removed the rear swivel stud and took a drill bit and drilled the whole a little bigger so that the rod will fit through it. I epoxied the nut onto the but pad it looks sloppy when you take the butt pad off but its on the inside so I don't mind it because I wont really see it. That's about it for that and you just turn the dowel right or left to adjust the elevation.
Let me know what you guys think of it all, I appreciate any comment that you may have good or bad just glad to get some feed back from other people.

Dumb question-why would you put such high rings with no open sights. I like my scope as close to the barrel as possible for the best cheek weld.

    Wow...
That is a great looking Axis. I always enjoy a seeing another Axis Econo - Build. Where else can you end up with a rifle that'll shoot as well as they do & can be transformed into a really cool looking rifle...
    For under $400!

    Lots of luck with it.
Don't forget, you'll be required to put up a few pics of how it shoots.
'Scuse me while I whip this out...!

I got the high see through mounts because I go deer and coyote hunting and when the coyotes are running in to you if theres more than one its easier to look under the scope through the rings to get a shot off, its just a lot faster to shoot when an animal is on the run

Thank you! Yeah for the money this is a fantastic rifle I couldn't be happier with it.
I'll post some pics of how it shoots as soon as I get time to go to the range.

How accurate are the Axis actions/builds vs 10/110 builds?

If you look in my Axis build thread and others we are getting sub half MOA out of them. Some have been rebarreled and some have not. The Axis action is capable of performing on the same level as the 10/110. The only difference is the after market supportability.

I have no complaints. Both 110's & Axis rifles I have will all shoot well under MOA when I am, of course.
That would be with home rolled ammo.
