Yep it is. Most WSM's made in the last 6-7 years too. I may be a little off on that time span but the same goes for the RUM's too. The new models chambered in 375 Ruger are large shanks too as are the few RSAUM's that were made.

Just to clarify EFMs great input was that it does not matter which model,in recent years if it was a wsm, it was large shank .

I once had a stainless 116 7mm08 sporter barrel that was large shank as well. According to Fred @ SSS Savage would mix-match actions at the end of a build run with whatever they had left. So I guess with this one they had extra stainless large shank actions so they they just made the barrel large shank to fit it.

Yeah I've seen a few other 223's that were large shanks and sporter weight barrels. They were model 16's with a left hand action. I figured the same thing, that they just put them together with what ever was on hand at the time. Oh forgot to mention the LRP too. It's also large shank in standard size calibers. Of course it is a variant of the model 12. I have one of the 116's in 375 Ruger. It's large shank and a pretty sweet rifle.

JW is right. I should have clarified that sooner. Not all model 12's are large shank either.
