    Pillar Bedding DIY

I used an old heater element from a home 220 volt water heater. The copper tube can be cleaned out and fits the bolt better than brass lamp tubing which is another common solution to pillar bedding. Copper is fairly hard and will do fine for a pillar in my Boyds sporter Prairie Hunter stock.

Previously I had used brass lamp post and a 3/8" drill bit in the stock. The water heater element requires a smaller drill bit thus less wood/plastic is removed.

There is no need not to pillar bed any stock. Older stocks can easily be pillar bedded for free with ordinary household materials.
