Anyone got a line on a few...

Anyone got a line on where I can get a few factory type Axis mag, short action followers? Just like the plastic kind inside the Axis factory mag for the .243?

I just can't bring myself to spend $37 for a new mag.

And NO, you may not ask how I broke the old one......

    Stay well Gents,

Probably have to do a hack job from an M14 Mag or something. I would imagine you could make a couple new springs from one. I bet the Mags are marked up 200-400% from what it costs to make them for the axis. THat's the only thing I hate about proprietary parts.

    yeah, I know.....
And springs I got up the ying yang here.
Just don't seem to have any surplus here on the plastic followers.

I really hate to call out my creative side & try to make one. Last time I did that I cut off a finger tip.

Maybe someone has an old one in their stash box that needs to be loved....

    Just might have to....
Maybe I'll traumatize an old AK47 mag or something. The rounds are almost the same in size. We'll see.

I guess I'll have lunch and ponder this very important issue of the day.

Will a .223 Mag work? I have a mess of old M16 Mags I may be able to let go of one.

How did you break it to begin with, inquiring minds want to know.

They are plastic followers. It's the standard M16 type mag. I would only ship the follower though. Just stuff sitting around from my deployment bag. You could probably pick one up for cheap online too I'm sure. I'm not sure how the size would compare to the Axis mag though.

Well Wolfie, I think I'll sit tight for a day or so. if I can't score any Axis followers I'll get one of the M16 mags from Midway. They have them for $13. I can use the follower for my repair & attach the mag body to may lawn mower - Maybe make it an "assault mower"....

Thanks for all your help here.

I'd rather REALLY not say. Besides, I just got the bleeding to stop on my right hand. I do not wish to be reminded. It's bad enough my 'ol lady will be home at 1800hrs to call me a butt nugget.

Then she'll play "Suzie the Nurse" and want to stitch it up.

    With nylon rope.

This sounds like it could be a candidate for the "Darwin Awards". Must be a really good story.

It's not really. It's a blatant act of stooopidity on my part.

    Again.

Can't be that bad. I saw a picture of a soldier who decided to pound in the retaining pin on a .50 Cal Machine Gun mount with a .50BMG round. Hand was opened up like a peeled bananna. That came out in our "lessons learned" program.

    I understand though.

Ladies & gentlemen.... And children of all ages.

I no longer need an Axis plastic follower. As I mentioned earlier, I traumatized then modified an old AK47 mag follower to work.
Next step, see if it functions properly during live fire. In case I never come back due to an unfortunate, unusual accident, I'll have the 'lil woman post my last will & testament..
Thanks to all for the abuse. It helps keep me sharp.
Special thanks to Lone Wolf for not abusing me as much as the others & for at least trying to help the old guy out.

Love Ya Like A Brother, My Brother in Arms...

Even if I do have to endure all of this verbal abuse. Remember, I've been married 3 or 4 times (Don't recall exactly how many times) - you can't dish out enough to annoy me. This is like a party comparatively.

Ok guys, correct me if I am wrong as I do not have an Axis (yes I have shot and handled some) and I have not taken apart an Axis Mag.

That being said, IIRC the Axis mag is the same as the newer Savage DBM with the plastic bottom "metal". If that's the case, then the Axis mag would use the same mag body and follower as the Centerfeed DBM's. So if that's the case, then why not just by a new follower? or am I missing something?

Here is a follower and it's available.

Like I said I do not have an Axis to confirm.

Using the pics in the links below, it sure looks the same, other than the plastic vs. steel bottom.

    Thanks Boots.
And you put that up without verbally abusing me.
    Yet.

Ya know, I did not know the spring / follower assy. was available separately.
Of course, I can't say that now.....

    Thanks
    Dosvidaniya, comrade savage shooter.

And get yourself an Axis, will ya. I think it's required somewhere in the forum rules...
