    Nice one!

At the Cabela's here in Maine, that would be a $950 rifle, based on what I'm seeing there.

I just got a .300 Savage 99 awhile ago too, and have found mine is really accurate with Rem factory loads (150gr Core Lock) and its Lyman peep sight. I'm sure it could do better -- or maybe "I would do better" -- with a scope, but mine has the straight grip and I like the way it handles.

    Tight groups.

Thanks Yeah I got this one for $399.99 at the Delaware Cabelas. I wish it had not been drilled for scope but I like it. It has a Weaver 2-7 scope on it now but I think I might change it out to a Weaver K-3. The Weaver 2-7 is like new too.

With regards to loads; I'm shooting 150 Gr. TSX bullets (Barnes) with open sights. Very good results (1-1.5"@ 100) for my old eyes. Load is 40 gr 4895, 20/1000's off lands.

Thanks, It's been a while since I bought any factory ammo, so today I was in a Philly gunshop and asked if they had any 300 Savage ammo, well they did, $43.00 a box. They still have it. Holy crap!! I'll be orderin some dies real soon.
