223 Bolt opened up to fit PPC Case

Has anyone opened the 223 bolt to suit the PPC case on a stevens 200/ mod 10 etc?

I could see a savage being perfect for a family of ppc wildcats 17/20/6/6.5 grendal etc etc

Would they feed and eject okay or is it a mission?

Sharp shooter supply can take care of your needs. Give them a call.

I recognize the word wildcat and Grendel but I am not sure I understand the rest. Have you had any firearms related parts shipped from usa to Aus?

Ryan what do you hunt in Australia? Are there deer?

Yep I have had parts sent from the usa to aus unchambered barrel and stocks.

I will build this locally and is just some ideas in my head.

I shot with a friend who had a switch barrel setup for the ppc family of cartridges the 6ppc 17 ppc 20ppc etc I have a soft spot for 6.5s with an old swede and a new savage 6.5x55ai on a target action.

Mate hunt rabbits foxes cats pigs goats deer Buffalo etc no deer or buff for me yet.

This would be a lot simpler. Plus you save the 223 bolt head.

If they will ship to you.

The part is under $100 so they should, no export fee. You can open up a factory one easily.

Righto Hadn't noticed the PPC size on PTG, I will ask the smith when he does some work next. Would these feed out of a 308 mag or 223 better? Anyone built one on a savage/stevens?

Gun shack also carries the factory ppc/7.62x39 bolt head. but to answer your question yes the 223 head can be opened up for ppc. As to the feeding just get the mag and follower for the 7.62x39 and you should be good to go. My Grendel feed fine with no mods to the mag.

    HI Earl

I didn't realise there was a 7.62x39 mag for them. So did you use a standard 223 or 308 mag or the 7.62x39 one??

I used the 7.62x39 mag for both my grendels. I used 1 bolt head from sharp shooter supply and one factory bolt head. I have seen no difference in them preformance wise. Of course the machined one is much prettier but you pay for the extra work involved.
