Today I picked up another .223 Axis for my 223 Ackley Improved experiment. It seems everyone I buy the triggers get worse.
Since the first thing I did to this one was pull the bbl off, I went through the trigger waiting for the gf to show up. Not only did it have that very stiff pull we enjoy fixing so much. Here are 2 problems, I haven't seen in the last 6 or so rifles:
1. The trigger pivot pin had awful score marks on it and also RUST! Wow. First time I've seen that.
A little 600 grit wet/dray paper fixed that.
2. The side to side slop of the trigger was awful. It took a .020" shim to correct it to the 'ole IBM Engineering standard of: "minimum play / no binds".

Also, this one was assembled by the credo "If a little Loctite on the bbl is good, let's go for record!" ha ha

Still love them though. They make great test beds without sinking a lot of $ into them.........

P.S. see my other post in 'rimfire rifles' about 22 LR and 17 WSM ammo.......
