    lookign to date my savage 99e 308


    I have a "N" top left near barrel just before words "model 99e"----small letter "m" lever boss looks like there may have been an oval around it but only partial left-----
    left side of receiver lower frame "P","N","8","E"
    serial number 1017824

    so is mine a 61 or 62?

    The "M" on the lever boss seems to date it as a 1961
