Need advice on mounts and rings

    Hello everyone

I have a Vortex Viper 6.5 - 20 x 50 pa. I need to mount on a model 10 fcp-k 308 and unshure wich mounts to use. Have been told to use the Leupold Standerd or the Burris quick detach. Any advice would be helpfull.

    Thank you

I like to use EGW 1 piece base and Burris XTR low rings. Nice solid setup.

Though I would need a high ring with how high the bolt comes up

I can think of but one reason you would need high rings on a savage. Thay is if you run a chasis system like XLR. The only other reason might be if you had a 60mm objective.

I have enough clearance with the mediums I think I would try lows if I didn't already have the comb risers built for both guns.

Get the Burris signature zee rings. They also come with additional 10 moa ring inserts to help get the best moa travel out of that scope. Not to mention being the best solid and square rings you can get.

+1 on the Signature rings. Order the low rings if your they will allow your scope clearance for your bolt and your scope's objective lens. Depending on where you order them from, you can usually return them it they don't fit.

Lower is always better when it comes to scope ring height and bikini things.

I'm with the other guys on the Signature rings, as far as I know though they only come in medium and high. The medium ones should work fine with your setup.

It's better to shoot for the moon and hit the fencepost than to shoot for the fencepost and hit the ground!

I used a set of Talley Light Weight Scope Mounts (#740725) from SWFA.
