    axis youth info

im looking at buying a youth axis 223 for my son to start deer hunting with but I am wondering what is the difference between the youth axis and the adult axis other than the youth model having a 20" barrel and the full size having a 22" barrel, is there a difference in the stocks? basically im wondering if it is possible to convert the youth model into a full size model when he gets older and out grows the youth size gun, any info would be great thanks

yes they do as I have got one. Stock is shortened by about an inch(?) I am fairly short with arms to suit so that is why I have gone this way

Yep, stock and barrel are both shorter. Action, trigger, and magazines are all the same.

Lot of room to grow with them. I used a 7mm-08 youth as the base for my 308 build.

get him a 25-06 or 243 min.. so he has more more to grow into it. They barley kick at all..

A .223 is a perfectly capable deer cartridge with proper bullets and shot placement. It will teach him to make his shots count and the non-existant recoil will ensure he doesn't develop a flinch. Buy any .223 Axis (new or used, adult or youth) and put a Boyd's youth stock on it. They recently added youth stocks to their lineup for the Axis. He won't outgrow the .223. I'm 25 and I just bought a .223 Axis stainless about a month ago.

Nice looking rifle, is that a Boyds stock with a heavy barrel channel?

    Thanks!

Yep. I opened it up with using sockets wrapped in sandpaper. Super simple. It just takes patience and a little time.
