    Gunsmithing Question

Does anyone happen to know the thread size for the open sights on a Stevens 110E? basically, I removed the open sights and am looking for a long enough set screw to thread in, Loctite down and subsequently cut and file down to match the barrel contour, thus permanently filling these in.

I know for the Hog Hunter sights that the small allen screws that come on rifles to fill the scope mount holes fit mine for that purpose.

I ended up picking up a few of the following to try:

    8-32 x 5/16
    10-24 x 5/16
    10-32 x 1/4

    This was my first thought.

Most of the rifle threads for scope mounts and sights have been either 6-40 or 8-40. Not sure on that particular rifle.

So the 8-32 did not fit. The body was too fat. Is 6-40 the next closest size?

I measure .135 od(.138) with as best as I can see with my magnifier and a flashlight, 40 TPI per my starret 473 thread pitch gauge.
    Hold the presses

    Speedrat below is correct

got some help and the starret matched up with the 48. My apologies.

if the threads on a 6-40 bind it'll be the standard 6-48 then..

If you just want to fill the hole, use a black crayon. Melt it with a lighter and fill the hole, wipe it down flush. It will seal the hole from moisture and it is removable down the road if you need it.

Was able to get some 6-40 screws from an uncle in MI and they fit! Used the Loctite 380 Black Max since my shop has tons of the stuff.
