    99EG 300 Savage

My local pawn shop has just put out what I think is a model 99EG in 300 Savage. Overall it looks like it's in pretty good shape. Finish on the receiver is probably 70% and a but better on the barrel. It operates smoothly. The small screw head on the left side of the action is buggered up pretty badly but no other signs of abuse. They are asking $499. Is this a reasonable price for a shooter?

Depends on what caliber you want.

I would dicker down the price to say 400 bucks but then that is the cheap skate in me.

Look at the barrel crown, if it is smooth and the rifling is sharp in the the barrell then get it if it is the caliber you like. The receiver can always be reblued. The action screw can be replaced so that is not a big issue.
