    A different Mod 19 question.

I got this rifle (the middle one) quite a while back. At the time I thought it was a Mod 23a. It sat in the safe and gradually worked its way to the back. I found it again the other day & now I’m not sure what it is.

    Top Mod 19-1933 s/n 520xx
    Middle Mod ?? s/n 215xx
    Bottom Mod 19-1919 s/n 65xx

The barrel and receiver are one piece. It uses the same magazine, bolt and butt plate as the Mod 19-19. The barrel dimensions (diameter & length) are the same as a Mod 19-19. The stock is the same as the Mod 19-19 except it has been shortened, and looks factory done.

The shape of the oval ejection port is what’s confusing me. It’s the same as the 23a but if that was the case the barrel would be more tapered.(?) It also would have come with a different stock.(?)

I have heard there is a Mod 22 that was made for one year only, 1922. It was a transition rifle from the Mod 19-1919 to the Mod 23a. It used design features from both models. Any thoughts / info?

If any one has a 23a can you tell me the diameter of the barrel at the muzzle?

Looks to be an EARLY 23/19. Bigger pics would help. What does the bolt look like? I don't know about the model 22. Looks like an early model 23 with a late model finger groove stock similar to the #4, not the same rifle but that looks like the stock.

    More pictures would definitely help.

It is wearing a model 1922 bolt and ejection port but they never had barrel bands.

There was a couple more variations to the 19-33 and I think thats what you've got there but for some reason I always thought the other uncatalogued variations came out after the 19-33 not before which confuses me about the serial number on it.

    I'll dig a bit more.

Is there a model designation on it anywhere? Does the bolt have a double or single firing pin in it?
