Hey BigRed no such thing as bothering me, I am always happy to contribute, Just use H4350 load data for your RL17, that's what I did since
the beginning and it has worked out fine, a lot of folks do not know this but Weatherby's chambers, are rated at something like 72000 psi, the factory loads that use to be available were insane they have since toned it down, but there was a time that you could get a factory load with over 8000 pounds of muzzle energy, that's a 500gr bullet at almost 2800FPS my shoulder hurts just thinking about it, I loaded some for an guy that was getting over 3000 FPS with a 32 inch barrel 125gr of RL19 and a 500gr bullet, anyway sorry for getting off track if you have any other questions PLEASE feel free. check out this link.

Thanks so much! That was the issue I was having. I did not know data to start with to sub the r17. When running a very high chamber psi, that pressure is on the barrel, not the action? I guess what I am trying to ask is a savage action can handle a large psi load? ( I am guessing so since you have the exact gun I am starting on)

Yes they can stand the pressure, my 257 and 270 started out in life as Stevens 200 7mm Rem Mags, my 300 WBY is a mark V Accumark, those 9 locking lugs and the smoothness of that action is a work of art.
