Looking at a rifle basix for my stevens 200

    http://www.riflebasix.com/index.php?...2009&x=74&y=12

The trigger on my Stevens 200 is really, really bad. I've replaced the spring/wire with thinner pieces and its still pretty bad.

The rb sav-1 looks like it will fit the bill of a much lighter pull without breaking the bank.

Love the idea of a 4oz pull from the sav-2 but hard to justify the cost.

Anyone using these triggers, like them, don't?

    Any information appreciated, Matt.

I've used a number of the Sav-1's in the past on builds and have no complaints, they work as advertised and are FAR better than the factory unit on the Stevens. Good value for the money.

    Glad to hear that.

At what point does having the lower weight adjustability of the sav-2 become worthwhile?

Where is the best place to buy from?

Just installed one on a Marlin rimfire, excellent trigger, took 10-15 mins install time. I think they are high priced for a rimfire however can't complain on the effect, I purchased direct from manufacture without a sale their price is equal plus no shipping.

Before I would pop the money for a Rifle Basix sav1, Jard or a Timney trigger, I would find a old Savage three screw trigger. The old three screw triggers can be found for around 20 to 30 bucks, and they are very similar to the Rb sav 1 and the Timey trigger.

Another option is Sharp Shooters Supply, there competition trigger is close in price to the Rifle basix sav 1, Jard, and the Timney, but will greatly out preform them all. The SSS comp trigger has a pull weight of 2lbs and is adjustable down to 12 oz.

I much prefer the SSS trigger to the RB or the Timney. Haven't tried the Jard (no reason to after the SSS came along).

I bought a Rifle Basix trigger for my Savage center fire rifle and it was terrible. Lots of creep and the safety did not work correctly. I got the SSS trigger after that. It took some filing on my action to get it to fit, but the trigger is very nice. I have not had time to play with it much, working on another project rifle. It is much much better than the Rifle Basix trigger. I know people that put the Rifle Basix in rimfire rifles and they worked well for them, Marlin 17 HMR.

I installed a Basix trigger on my Marlin .22 mag and was SOLD on them.

So I tried one on my wife's Savage 110 and compare it to an Act of Congress ..... with working with Congress being substantially easier!

The end result was not bad but I had to have my brother-in-law give it the finnishing touches (he retired from the State and one of his jobs in Corrections was that of Armorer and he did not think it was very easy!).

For the bucks, I think the Savage three screw would make for $$$ sense. And for the same money ...... I too would go with SSS ......... I have not yet but that's where I will go with my recent 110 build.

Check the install instructions on the Basix website to get more details, my Marlin was very easy.

The instructions for the RB SAV-2 stink. I think it was a DVD. It'd be better used as a coaster or a frisbee! I set mine up by closely examining it and trial and error. In the end, I got about 6oz safely by my standards. But, for the money invested, and the way I use the rifle, no $160 trigger was worth it. So I sold it and went w a 3 screw set at 3lbs. I'm satisfied w that.

Most people complain that the instructions suck on the RB sav 2 trigger.

FWIW...I put a SSS trigger in my 112BVSS .223 (the old days before Accutriggers and short actions)

It dropped right in and has been flawless. Love it.

The DVD I got with mine didn't even work so I guess that qualifies as sucking! I don't think I would have tackled it without prior experience though, over the years I have installed many different aftermarket triggers on many different actions and I must say the Sav-2 was by far the most difficult, without a pretty thorough knowledge of trigger function I wouldn't have tried it.

I must say though that I am very pleased with the end result.

I have two SSS Competition triggers on my rifles and love them. I've pulled Rifle Basix triggers on some remingtons that a friend owns. Personally, I like the Competition trigger better.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Did I just luck out or what ? Everyone post's how bad their Stevens trigger is. I adjusted mine and it seems to break crisp and clean with no creep. Don't have a way to measure the pull weight but I know it's less than the 2# everyone say's they are.
