A laminate is always going to be heavy compared to most composits.

Laminates on par will always be heavier. Personally I prefer the laminate over the synthetics and replaced all my factory stocks with them or bought the factory laminate model.
Most of my shooting is off the bench and I like the heft for that better than synthetic, my hunting rifles also carry the lams. but I stand hunt and the extra weight doesn't matter to me I only carry in carry out, and try to use a good solid rest in the stand.
My 243 model 11 dbm is the only one not converted but that is only because I can't find one for it.If anyone knows where one can be found I would be interested or maybe I see if a bind mag can be fitted to it.
