Savage 116 Serial # F489076 When was it made?

Savage 116 Serial # F489076 When was it made?

Why does it have a non laminated wood stock?

I am having trouble finding the exact model in the blue book of gun values Help.

It is stagered feed when did the 116s go to center feed?

    Kelly thanks in advance

There's a sticky at the top of this board that will give you a general idea of the build date based on the serial #. More pin-point info than what is supplied there isn't readily available.

What makes you think it should have a laminate stock? Very few Model 16/116's ever did as the vast majority have always been and still are offered with a black synthetic stock. Depending on the cartridge it's chambered for 116's transitioned to centerfeed magazines from 2004 to 2006.

As for the Blue Book of Gun Values - don't waste your time with it as their data is horribly out of date and is full of errors. And don't even get me started on how they haven't updated the pricing on the vast majority of the guns that aren't highly collectable for decades.

It has a brown wood stock I thought that was kind of odd for SS.

    Chambered for 30-06

What is the value of a 116 ss stagered feed? I want the action for a build.

    Thanks for help

Well, it's basically worth whatever you're willing to pay for it. Generally pre-accutrigger sporter models are selling for $300 to $450 depending on condition and features. Being a stainless steel model you can expect to pay in the higher end of that range.

If you go to savages website to the parts finder it may give you a pretty good idea of how your rifle was originally configured. I have a 116 in 30-06 from the mid 90s that starts with the numbers F848 I always thought it was cool because it is my F848 rifle (favorite) I'm pretty sure your F prefix rifle is from about the same time frame. I suspect it came with a black synthetic stock.
