    Taking off the accustock

Let me see if I have this straight. I am getting a Savage with accustock. Already planning on taking off the barrel and using a different caliber.

So I have to remove that darn smooth nut, then the accustock recoil pad and wedge.

Then install my Northland recoil lug and Northland slotted barrel nut, with the new barrel.

That should be just about it??? Have the Go / No Go gages

Sounds good. Do you have an action wrench or barrel vise? Do you have a plan for removing the smooth nut? Are you buying a new nut that uses the nut wrench?

I have one Northland slotted stainless barrel nut and two more coming. Have the Wheeler slotted barrel nut wrench that works great, and their smooth barrel nut that doesn't work so great.

Last smooth nut removal went to an 8 inch small pipe wrench. It left one mark on the smooth nut, and didn't touch the barrel. The smooth nut will never be used again.
