If it shoots good .......grab it......it's a steal at that price. Choate tactical stock and Swaro glass alone are worth it.
I have a friend who wants to buy a motorcycle really bad this weekend. Says he has a $1400 rifle he would sell me for $500. Its a savage chambered in .300 WSM. Not sure on scope model, until I actually see the gun, but he says its a Swarovski z3 4-12x50 it also comes with a tactical bi-pod that seems to be of decent quality from the pics. Also looking at this pic and the scope he stated, they seem to somewhat match. Can anyone tell me the value of this rifle? I just bought an AR10 and a TRP 1911 so this really has to be a good deal to make it worth the *****ing I will hear LOL [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Ok its here. I picked it up for $425! Cabelas receipt from Jan 2013 states: Black hawk scope rail $50 Harris bi pod with adapter $69, Viper pst 4-16mrad x 50mm $899, savage model 10 choate tactical SWM $650 on sale. TOTAL $1899 LOL minus $300 because it says Cabelas. Gun is heavy with a 24" bull barrel, seems to be a sniper rifle??? He says they shot 20 rounds and has the empty box. Looks like 20 rds, very clean!!! Can someone tell me the range of this rifle, if I can get higher cap mags? Also the glass good or no? Is this glass good for this gun or better suited for my AR10? Thanks for any input.
It also came with a soft case, 40 rounds of FEDERAL PREMIUM shocks, bore cleaner, bore guide rod w/ cleaning rod, and a small box of .223 armor piercing rounds :)
Looks like a great deal to me. With some good match loads it would be a good 1000y target rifle.
Do you handload?
I do not reload but own several weapons that require unavailable ammo at the moment so I do see reloading in the very near future. Good to hear about the 1K yds!!! That makes me happy. Should I be seeking better optics and using this one on a .308 AR10?
If that is a vortex viper scope the scope was worth way more than you got the whole setup for and yes if it is vortex viper it is good glass. Congrats on a steal.
So from what I am seeing this is a center point scope from Walmart?
Center Point is a marginal scope and probably not well suited for a .300WSM. It can get you by for a while but I would look to upgrade in the near future.
He says someone had to have returned the CP in the Vortex box at Cabelas and then they stuck it on his gun. Very similar scopes I guess that could have happened. Interested in seeing how this turns out!
Sounds like a tall tale to me.
The scopes are not all that similar and definitely not in the the same price range. The rifle is well worth the $425 you paid for it but a used CP scope should be free.
I'd bet he sold that other scope.
Yeah I looked at the first pic he sent me, one he downloaded on FB when he bought it, it had the Vortex scope on it. Then he had his dad send some newer pics yesterday that had this CP scope on it. He says his cousin was there back in Feb then he moved 300 miles. I think hes full of **** because it makes a little more sense that he would ask closer to $1400 for an $1800 gun. He agreed to give me the gun for $400 now with the crap scope only problem I have is where do I get glass for a gun that shoots 1k yds that I wont be in this thing BIG $$$?
For another $300 + rings and bases you can have a brand new SWFA SS fixed power scope that will do anything you could want to do.
So for as little as $800 total you would still be way ahead of the game.

Thanks not sure about the fixed scope, I know nothing about it...
The scope was just thrown on there. You were not cheated at that price. A fixed scope is one that is not variable in power ranges. SWFA sells a very popular scope called the Super Sniper. It is available either new or used in 6x,10x, 12x, 16x, 20x powers if I am not mistaken. The basic model is around 300 and you can go up from there including variable power HD glass. The 20x has a reputation for being a little dark but not a problem for daytime long range shooters. as Froggy said they are the good bang for the buck. Look for them used on gun and shooting forums and even post want to buy(WTB) in classifieds if you are intersted. sometimes you can pick them up in the 225 range. The newest versions are better than the older ones due to design changes after Bushnell started manufacturing them for swfa. There are other options out there, I just waned to fill in the blanks for you on the SS scope. If you want to change calibers I'm interested in the barrel.

I will keep that in mind. I only bought the gun for the glass, to find out it wasnt the glass in the picture he showed me, nor on the receipt he gave me. We are still working it out and something tells me he is going to cough up this scope. Gun may be for sale, I will have to get some good glass and run enough rounds down it to break it in. That way I know what I have before selling to someone else so that neither party is getting screwed.
Doug at Cameraland (a sponsor) has some good deals on quality optics. Do some research and see what he has.
The SWFA Super Sniper is a good scope for someone on a budget. I like the Leupold VX-2 6-18X40 AO with target knobs for target & competition use and it would serve you very well on this rifle. They can usually be found for under $500 if you look hard enough.
The CP will probably get you by long enough to determine if you like the rifle.

The two pictures are not the same gun, at least not taken at the same time. The scope in the first picture is the CP scope. The scope in the second is NOT a CP scope.
You may as well take the $899 for the Viper off the total. The CP scope is a decent scope for a 22, maybe a 223, but not much more. And if you plan on using the dials much expect a failure or at a minimum for it not to adjust reliably. The rings are Chinese rings that come with the CP scope. Good luck trying to see anything at 1,000 yards with the scope or having enough adjustment to get you to 1,000 yards. The Centerpoint scope and rings are $69 in any Walmart. The seller should have known the scope wasn't a Swarovski.
Also, I do not believe that is a true Harris bipod. It looks identical to the Chinese knockoffs that Walmart sells. They are decent bipods for the money. But they cost under $50 at any Walmart.
You did real good but the gun is not worth much over $900 and definitely not even close to $1,899.
