I tried. I used a rotary table mounted to a bridgeport to try to get the top radius and thru hole done. But, the mill I was using is worn out so it didn't do a very good job. I canned it. It was worth the $30 to me to have a perfect one.
anyone atempt to build there own ? how did it work ? i have some stainless laying around i might try to mod one up that is a little heaver than the stock one for my steevens 243

I have to agree the $30 for the CNC machined piece is money well spent. I'm not a machinist...but I would think your valuable time would go by pretty quickly for the $30 cost.....unless you're just looking for another project?
