I'd call and talk to the DNR (or whatever SD calls it) in the area you are wanting to go to. Sometimes ranchers will notify DNR about getting hunters in to take care of their pdog problem. While you've got the officer on the phone is a great time to double check license requirements and if there are any public lands to suit your needs also.

A good prairie dog spot is a lot like a good fishing spot. Good luck getting anybody to give up there info. Boot's advice is where I would start also. Then find the local diner sit down for breakfast and just be friendly and ask the locals. Generally once you get in with one he will point you in another direction of who to talk to next.

if you have enough time thats a plus. if you only have a few days its sometimes a problem.
asking around after you get there is sometimes the best way. once youve been there the next trip is easier.

Follow every lead you get, call every place you can think of. Public land is easy to find. Public land with dog towns are few and far between in my area of SD. They have been posioned like crazy over the last couple years. My last dog shoot was on a ranchers place over in Wyoming. Higly suggest you get with the VHA and see if they have any ranchers that need some dogs killed.
    More shooting, less typing.
