Yes, I had to do that too when I changed my 223 to a CDI bottom feed and it works fine. Just be careful to measure and don't take too much off.
Looks like the baffle part of the bolt is also the bolt stop. I am changing from 223 length case to 308 length case so the bolt hasn't sufficient room to work properly with magazine so I am assuming that I can cut and grind off that part of the baffle the acts as the stop. Anybody with experience here chime in and helpme out as to how much to cut off. I can likely guess right but experience trumps...thanks...Jack

Why not just buy a new baffle from a place like midway instead of cutting up a good 223 baffle? They are easy to switch out.
mostly because they dont list them for sale, they have the 223 baffles but not the 308 ones and Savage says they only sell this 3.00$ part to smithies. Now if somebody wanted to swap I am good with that too.
I picked up a 308 recently, get on their email list
brasse, if Midway doesn't list it I don't know how to get on their list to buy one...I will look again tho. I have plenty of skill and machines to make a 5 minute job of it, just don't know how much to cut off...and I don't need a 223 length part.
Midway has them just look in the 110 section shows in stock.

yes they do but the ones they have are just like mine for the 223, that is where I looked. Wish you would have posted a link, because I didn't find one.

I only looked at mod 12 and mod 10 and didn't find it, not very familiar with Savage models.
