CBI 260 Rem Match & AI Mag Fed

CLIFF NOTES: DO NOT RUN THE CBI 260 Rem Match if you plan to use AI Mags!!!

Finally got my rig put together and ran some loads @ AI mag length (2.85, 2.86 is mag length).

Loaded ladders for the 142 SMK and 140 Amax. I had not checked jump as I wanted to see how well they would shoot at AI mag length. They did not shoot well. Apparently the longer freebore of the CBI 260 Rem Match is NOT such a good idea if you plan to run AI Mags.

With the longer freebore, I am running a .05 jump on the 142 SMK and .065 jump on the 140 Amax. Both of these bullets prefer a .02 jump. I am going to play around with the charges some more to see if there is a charge that works well with the larger jump. I ran ladders from 41.9 thru 43.1 in .3 increments. I'm going to run a little higher to see if I can find an accuracy node that tolerates the larger jump.

    H4350 and CCI BR primers.

Going to try another set of ladders at 2.85 COAL and some higher charges. Hoping I can find a decent accuracy node.

You can always use the Alpha Type 2 mags which will allow you to seat out to 2.950" or so.

They should...footprint is the same as an AICS mag.

You can always remove the front plate from your AICS mag to gain OAL; never done it but lots of folks on the interwebs have. Reportedly gets you close to 2.95".

I'm going to shoot the ladders I worked up last night. If I can't find a good node, I'll see if I can't a) remove the front plate or b) get an Alpha type 2.
