Thumbhole stock for a new Stevens 200 center feed?

I just ordered a new 200 in .223 and would like to put a thumbhole stock on it. Stock's has one for 179.00 plus shipping. Anyone know of a cheaper one. Thanks, Don

If your keeping the sporter barrel you may want to consider this one from Stocky's as well ... $139

Thanks, I didn't see that one. I would get the one for the model 10 to fit the Stevens .223, right? Don

Correct ... just make sure your action screws are 4.40" and your good to go. Any stock for a centerfeed (4.40")Savage model 10, 12 etc (short action) will work ... assuming yours is a newer model. Been looking at these myself, they should fit the bill just fine.

stocky's get theirs from and mark up the price

The unfinished stocks may be Boyds, I bought one for my 22-250 and it needed a little work but not much.
The drop ins I believe come from S-K and are truly a finished stock except for pillars(which Stocky sells), put one on my 10fp really like this one. Problem is SK was just bought out by Remington so who knows if they will continue to make stocks for Savage. I already know they won't for la, because I called and they told me so.

Does installing the thumbhole stock require getting longer stock screws for the wood stock?

i had to order longer screws for the stocky stock and had to dremel to get that little clip that attaches to the magazine. Got them at brownells along with a metal trigger guard the plastic one on the stevens wont fit the stocky stock cut out

Boyds have their thumbhole stocks on sale for $92 at the moment. They will ship to Canada as long as your order is below the $100 limit.

Im pretty sure the Boyds stocks are for the older 4.275" action spacing stagger feed models.

IMPORTANT: WE DO NOT AT THIS TIME MAKE THE STOCK FOR THE 1ST GENERATION SHORT ACTION (1958-1987) 4.522" OR THE 3RD GENERATION SHORT ACTION (2005 AND UP) = 4.40" CENTER FEED MAGAZINE THIS MEASUREMENT IS TAKEN FROM THE FRONT TRIGGER GUARD SCREW TO FRONT ACTION SCREW

    From boyds web site.

So the trigger guards are the same for long & short actions or they just don't list the short action trigger guards currently?
