    Savage 93R17-GV

I have received different answers to this question, even from the folks at Savage. You folks are my "go-to".

Is the subject rifle supposed to have a free-floated barrel or not? FYI, the rifle has a bull barrel and accu-trigger but is not dual-pillar bedded.

Mine is an amazing value but, contrary to the claims of several online merchants selling them, is clearly not a floated barrel. The walnut-stained stock (probably birch wood (?)) fits wells and snuggly against the barrel. Thank you Gents.

I think you found out the answer yourself. It all depends on who you ask.

As you found out, just because someone says it does not mean it's true. I have heard from many places that advertise it as a free floated barrel, but they usually are not.
