Bolt handles for a model 12

Anyone got recommendations for an excellent aftermarket bolt handle for a savage model 12?

or do a search at www.midwayusa.com. There are a couple of different offerings made by Savage available there.

or you can custom make your own. There are several threads here about people who have done just that.

How do you get an answer from SSS? I've been waiting for an email reply for over 48 hours. Not being able to order off the site or talk to someone via phone is a little rather restrictive.

I dont know about SSS but Northland Shooters Supply only answers emails once a week. I would give it a week and email again. I think much patience is required now days.

Just curious, what are in your opinion the shortcomings of the stock bolt handle? I rather like it.

SSS's services are in high demand and there is a waiting list for work to be done. Factor in all those calls plus people looking to buy parts, magazines, handles, etc. and thats a lot of call volume. Give them a week or two, they'll get back to you if you wait.

Its shorter than I'd like. I'd like more clearance to the scope bell when I cycle the action.

One of the drawbacks of a 2 lug bolt.

Ah! That makes a lot of sense.

I've got three of the Stockade handles as well. He sells two sizes that I know of. I prefer the larger of the two. For my last build, I ordered one of the smaller ones by accident, it doesn't look or feel as nice (still longer than factory knob though).

Another option would be Phoenix Custom Rifles. I have one of their "Phoenix" knobs on my Nesika Bay rifle, I really like it too. They will install a new knob on your Savage bolt handle.

Unbiased AR15, Barnard, BAT, Borden, Browning, Kelbly, Marsh, Nesika Bay, Remington, Ruger, Savage, Ultralight Arms owner. I like 'em all.

Wow ,110.00 to put a bolt knob on versus 45.00 for a complete stockade bolt handle is a no brainer.Phoenix work looks top notch but the price is prohibitive.
