    Savage 64F stock screw torque

    Hello,

This may be a redundant question, if so, I apologize in advance. I got a savage 64F last week. Accuracy was OK. I removed the stock afterwards to clean the actions, etc... I noticed accuracy plunged when I tried it out today. I pulled out my wheeler fatwrench and lowered the torque on the stock screws and accuracy improved a bit. I had used a regular allen key to tighten the screws after the cleaning.

What would be the normal torque on the stock screws. I've lowered to 10lbs. Anything over 18 seems to tighten the stock so tight that the action no longer cycles.

What ammo have various members tested for accuracy with good results?

After some testing with a wheeler fat wrench...best results are with 5-6lbs at the front and 8lbs at the rear.
