    Rear baffle assembly question

Stripped my bolt down and found that the last little bit of bolt closing pressure is when the bolt starts to roll closed and overcomes the pressure put on it by the small ball bearing in the rear baffle assembly.
My other savage rifles don't have as much pressure there as this one rifle does.
Is there a simple fix or mod that can be done to reduce said pressure?

    Thanks for any help.

You can polish out the grove in the bolt body, with a wire wheel on a dremel, then with a polishing pad. I thought about cutting a coil off of the spring that holds the detent ball, but I was told me not to do that.

Thanks for the reply. I initially thought of doing just that, but was a little leary. Did not want to put myself in the position of having to order a new bolt body. Did they say why not to reduce the spring tension? Will it make the ball go shooting across the garage?

    thanks again.

If you are experiencing this only when closing the bolt on a cartridge case, then what you are feeling is most likely the extractor moving over the rim of the case!
