    .472 vs .473 case head?

I'm looking at a 22-250 that a local guy has for sale with a 25-06 build in mind. 22-250 case head is .472 and the 25-06 is .473 Would I be able to get away with the bolt set up the way it is, or will .001 make that much difference, or is there a way to make it work without changing the bolt face?

Thin copy paper or notebook paper is .0035. Therefore .001 amounts to about nothing. Measure your bolt face counterbore. Probably measures around .480

So theoretically I could go between the two calibers with bolt set up the same?

Not theory. Fact. There is no difference in the bolthead for either caliber except for the fact that the as$ end of the bolthead is longer for a LA and shorter for a SA. The critical demensions are the same.

The 22-250 will work in a long action, the 25-06 will not work in a short action.

What stangfish said. The bolt head is NOT an issue between the two calibers, it's the action length. If your friends rifle is a long action, you're good to go.

The rifle I'm looking at buying is a short action. I would think that I could feed the rounds in the chamber one at a time and use it as a target rifle though since that would be the main purpose. I know they wont fit in the mag, and that I'll have to remove the bolt to remove a live round.

Your money your rifle. Long actions are normaly cheaper.
