Which scope for a model 11 Hog Hunter

I just received my HH and I prefer two piece bases. The problem with Savage short actions as many of you know which scope is long enough to use 2 piece bases to fit. I have a spare Simmons Aetec on it now but want to put a Leupold on it. I was looking at the VX-R line. Any ideas fellow Barrel Nuts?

Depends on your intensions but excellent choice. Burris MTAC is good to go as well. Have you ever thought about a red dot. I have aimpoints but I have friends that have the Sparc and are very happy....especially with the price tag.

I have VX-R 2-7x33mm Riflescope on a Savage SA. I've found Weaver Grand Slam steel 2-piece bases (S46 and S401) or the Burris Extreme Tactical 2-piece bases work best. I use the Burris Signature Zee rings with 2 piece weaver style bases, since the mounting holes seldom line up perfectly on a Savage action.

I've compared the VX-R 2-7x33 to the new VX-2 2-7x33 side by side until the end of legal shooting. The glass and low-light performance of both are equally good. Leupold is finally back on my list of scope options since they finally stepped up to the glass performance mark set by other manufactures. The glass performance of the Leupold VX-3, VX-R and new VX-2 scopes are equal to today's competition and a needed improvement over the performance of older VX-II and VX-III model scopes. The illuminated reticle in the VX-R line works and functions as advertised. Either the Leupold VX-R or VX-2 with a wide duplex reticle would be my choice for low light hog hunting.
