    Scope for new axis

    Thoughts about Nikon Monarch 2.5 x 10 x 42 versus 3 x 12 x 42 for 223 axis? Also looking at 2.5 x 10 x50 option. Primary use will be coyote hunting at 400 yards or less.

Not considering price and based only off of the information given, I would think the 2.5-10x50 would be where I look first. The 50mm lens should gather more light and have a wider FOV for faster target aquizition when you are set at the upper power levels.

Now if you were dead set on the 42mm then I would go with the 3-12x42mm just because you get the extra 2x and there is minimal difference between 2.5x and 3x on the bottom end of the power range, so why not have a touch more zoom on the upper end when all else is equal.

    JMHO.
