Factory walnut stocks available from Numrich!

No affiliation, I just wanted to pass the word along. Numrich has some factory walnut (not hardwood) stocks for long action 110 models. They are available for both blind magazine and detachable clip models. I ordered one of each and will report back when they arrive. Price is about $70. You can see them at gunpartscorp.com

I have a feeling these will either be hardwood stocks (with the factory oak finish) or aftermarket duplicates that will require inletting work and finishing. I'd also wager that the one for the detachable magazine is for the old style as well (side button).

Umm... no. The one I just got in the mail is walnut, and is identical to the 114 American Classic, only with a blind magazine well.

WE NEED SOME PICS PLEASE!! ;D ;D

Are they for a staggerfeed or centerfeed action? Long and/or short action?

Are you sure it's not the hardwood (birch) stock thats dipped to look like walnut?

Here are links to the descriptions of what I ordered. No, it's not the film-dipped stock, next time scroll a little farther than the first one you see.

The American Classic stock, much glossier than in the picture:

The stock for the detachable clip model with oil finish:

I'll try to get pictures of the actual stocks and figure out how to post them.

Those are not "American Classic" stocks, those are 14/114 stocks. The detachable mag stock is for the old style stagger feed w/side release. I suspect the blind magazine stock is stagger feed too. Although they may look like the American classic, the American Classic didn't come out till 2005 and they were all center feeds.

I'm still trying to figure out how that second one is supposed to be a factory stock. The 14/114U models all came with blind magazines, and that one on the bottom clearly has the old-style side release button for a detachable magazine.

Savage must have found a dusty old box of stocks on the 3rd floor for "the rifle that never was" and sold them to Numrich's. lol

    Greg B,

Thank you very much for this heads up.

I just ordered the second one for my 111FCXP3 package gun .270 (pre-accu, side button mag release)

I will let everyone know if it fits.

An oil finished, checkered walnut stock for $75, i just had to take the chance.

OK, so the stock was delivered today.

The wood is unbelieveable. Yes, it is actual Walnut, not walnut stained. Truly a beautiful piece of art. Checkering is deep and perfect.

I will post pictures when I get a chance.

The action drops right in, BUT I need 2 other parts for the conversion, a new trigger gaurd and magazine floorplate (which I just ordered)

I do have one question, It has a wood plug on the LEFT side just behind the forearm checkering. Right near the forward lug area, but does not go all the way through to the lug inlet. I have seen this on other rifles, what is it for?

I'd say it's for looks and would normally be indicative of installation of a recoil lug crossbolt.

    Really?

Interesting. In a way I think it spoils the lines.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!

I am really looking forward to bringing this all together. Tactical/thumbhole/composite stocks certainly have their place. but I love the look and feel of a classic rifle.

I'm gathering that these will fit the stagger feed LA Savage 110's with blind magazine then? This is exactly what I've been wanting to buy, but at a WAY better price than I was expecting to pay. Anyone got pictures they can post up? Thanks.

Hey guys, I apologize, I didn't realize I was gonna have to do stupid human tricks and jump through hoops to join "photobucket" just to add a pic. What kinda bass akwards gent set this forum up?

You will have to take my word for it, this rifle came out beautiful. If you want some pics, PM me with your email address and I will forward.

Nah, no problem with the pics if it's going to be a hassle. I ordered one of the classic style ones anyways. Couldn't beat that price. Were the stocks you guys received damaged in any ways? Some guys off another forum ordered Marlin 39A stocks that turned out to be factory seconds with MOSTLY fixable flaws, that is why I ask. There was no mention of flaws on the order page for those stocks. Thanks.

Mine was perfect. Not a scratch or dent in it. The rubber recoil pad needed to be wiped off from being in storage and it was dry (needed a coat of linseed oil) but the stock itself was flawless.

Re: Factory walnut stocks available from Numrich!

After reading this post I was looking through Numrichs stocks and saw one that was checkered, left hand, short action 110, bling magazine.
I had just bought a LH short action 110 action from the classifieds, and had decided to go the custom stock route, but decided I would take a chance.
Came today, not bad looking wood, fits my 4.522 spaced action perfect, and might even add a touch of class to my project. It has a cheek piece for us lefties, and looks like this stock without the ebony forend tip.
Only complaint was a plastic buttplate, instead of a buttpad. But I can fix that :), along with a set of pillars for the action to rest on, and maybe a little bedding material also.
Heck at a third the cost of a custom stock, I feel pretty good about these.
Thanks for the heads up on these guys.
    Andy

Hey everyone, newbie here. Just got a great deal on a Savage 111 in 7mm Rem Mag that I want to put a different stock on. I'm considering converting it to a blind mag and I'm very curious about these stocks. Did anyone end up getting one and how did they fit?

I guess I would be that "bass akward gent" who set up the forum. The two main reasons we don't allow direct uploads to our server are:

    1. bandwidth and storage space costs money, and hosting everyone's photo's would necessitate our greatly increasing out limits which in turn would substantially increase what it costs to run the site. And given how a great number of people can't figure out how to resize their pic's, hosting them would inevitably result in a significant decrease in site performance (page load speed).

    2. 99% of the pic's posted online are in JPG format, and it's extremely easy to embed a virus into a JPG file. As such, allowing people to upload photo's to our server would put it and all of it's content at great risk of being infected and/or lost depending on the complexity of the virus and what all it targets.

On the other hand, Photobucket and similar image hosting sites) is free, it's extremely easy to use, and it works extremely well.
