I have been looking at the same thing in a different caliber. I think the trick is the angle of the magazine. The head must touch just the case rim in just the right angle.
How hard would it be to modify the feed lips of a box magazine to work in a different firearm? I'm looking to use a BAR magazine in my older stagger feed Savage 110 8mm-06.
Adapting the magazine to the action was fairly easy, but getting the bolt to work reliably with the feed lips isn't.
Any thoughts?

Move the mag down a little bit?
