If it were only that easy
For 12 VLP DBM owners in 308 Win (26" SS, 1:10)
Where is your rifles sweet spot, what bullet, what powder (in grains), C.O.A.L., and speed on muzzle if measured?
Thx

Several powders work well with your 308. I perfer Varget using 175 Sierra Match Kings. Berger Hybrids work well also.
Start around 42.0 grains and work up in .3 grain increments until you start shooting <.500 groups. Then fine tune it from there.

If it was easy, anyone could do it.....
I have 2 - 99.99999% identical 25.06 barrels. The load that one likes the other looks like a shotgun pattern.
A very loose shotgun pattern....

Hehee,
I know,
same barrels diff load,
but just wanna hear your sweet spot for your rifle. I will try varget also,
but wanna make load with 170gr LB and N140. 175 SMK will also work fine I think,
I ll have to start testing,
there is no free lunch :)
I use IMR4064 or IMR3031. Both of my 308's like loads real close to max. Shooting 150 SGK or the 155 SMK palma. max for the 4064 is 45.5 gr and for the 3031 it's 43.8
Savage rifles like hot loads...
Not all...
I looked up my old info when I had a .308 barrel on one of my 110 actions. It liked the low end with IMR4064 & 150 Nosler BT's, IMR 4895 with 125 Nosler BT's & I tried RL15 with the Hornady Match 168's. I really didn't explore the possibilties too much with it. All OCW that I ran show low end was a good start point. Your mileage may vary. I kinda sorta got side tracked with a 223wssm & never completed OCW tests.
'Scuse me while I whip this out...!
cant help on this one....mines a 24" 1-11.25 twist.
Yes, it is so many varieties from A to Z, it depends from every little thing. I heard a lot of hot loads in Savage, and it is interesting to hear what you all use...
thx all for the answers...
