suggested load for .243 win and 87 grain vmax

I have a stevens 200 in 243 win that I am looking for a decent load to try. I have IMR4350, IMR4064, H4831 & H414 on hand. The hornady manual gives me starting and max for IMR 4064 & Win 760(which is the same as H414). but no H4831 or IMR 4350 is listed. Does anyone know where I can get some data for these 2 powders?

    Thanks

RUMs are like woman in Stiletto heals, you know they are going to put you in the poor house, but that has never stopped anyone from pursuing them.

Loaddata.com is an excellent source and well worth the 25 bucks a year.

Might have to try load data. The hodgdon website is only showing 85 grain barnes bullets and no listing for h4831. I know I can work up but I was trying to locate some published data on the 87 grain vmax. I had emailed hodgon and they said start with the 85 grain load and go from there. Was hoping someone had another reference or maybe an older or newer Hornady manual with the data I was looking for. Thanks.

The 4891 powder is to slow for a 87 grain bullet, so stuff as much as you can in that casing, and you will be fine, as far as they 87 gr ones even if you hornady data, it does not mean it will be your best load, so I would go with what Hogdon said. Don't over think it, make your own load data, there is no better data than hands on data.

Call Sierra Bulletsmiths (used to be 1800bulletsmiths) and ask them. They give data on most any combo-not limited to
Sierra.. Second-cxheck w/ powder maker (looks like you done that- Third-check bullet makers website for data.

or take data for a comparable wt bullet and start 2-3 gr less for different bullet (brand) and work up in 1/2 gr increments.

    Heard back from hornady.

"Chad, unfortunately we do not have data for that combination. You may want to contact Hodgdon and see if they can assist you with that data. Thanks"

So that guess I am stuck with using the 85 grain data and going from there..awesome.

I use 43.5 gr. IMR 4350 with the 87 vmax. Lyman data shows 45.0 max for a 90 gr. bullet.

I was going to suggest "Steve's Pages". but he combines the 85 and 87 gr in one page also.

    Here is the link anyway...

I can't really see how load data for the 85gr bullet won't work for the 87gr. Just me I guess.
