    On/Off Muzzle Brake Removal?

    Hi Gents,

Does anyone know if the factory on/off muzzle brakes can be removed? Are they pinned on or thread? Is there a standard thread size they use?

    Thanks and God bless,

    Adam

They are threaded. I believe to remove them, you put correct sized pins through opposite holes and twist it off. I've also heard of putting a snug fitting nail through the holes and twisting it off with a claw hammer.

They are also a goofy thread. 9/16"-28.

Most brakes should be able to be custom fitted to 9/16x28 I would assume?

that's pretty well the standard thread size for barrels around 30 cal. There may be a standard for such but I'm not aware of it. You won't have any trouble getting most any brake in that size.

    I thought the 308 standard was 5/8x24?

Yes, they are just tough to find in that size and pitch off the shelf.
