    Today's date at the range

Got a chance to test some new stuff, conditions were about 43 degrees F, light/variable winds. I was in kind of a hurry, so I didn't giv ethe barrel of my axis much time to cool down between shots.

Here is a "redo" of last weeks hirnady 168 gr sst at 35.1. still think I can get it better.

Here is a redo of my ttsx 168 at 42.6--even worse than the first time around. Might be because I didn't let the barrel cool much--also the bullet is seated at .03 jump and Barnes suggests .03 to .07--not giving up on this since it's such a good hunting round.

Here is my 165 Hot Cor ladder. Hard to imtrepret what's useful here.

Here's the swift 180 scirocco 2 ladder. This one is also a bit hard to intrepret--mostly because the bullet seems to fly so darn well no matter what load I had in the case! I can tell this bullet has a great future in my rifle.

I am assuming 308 caliber with Varget or Re15? I would stick with the 180's if I was you. Your two nodes should fall around 41.4 and 43.0. Which is about right for most guns. Mines will shoot 42.8 in one hole with the 180's

Roger that--308 and RE (RL) 15. I agree, my axis seems to like the heavier 180's--did a .333 with the accubond 180 already--I feel confident the sciroccos can do even better.

At 308 velocities with the 180's you are wasting money with bonded bullets. A interlock or sst will get you stay together at those speeds for half the money.

Is that so? I've tried the two you mention and the results have not been as good as with the heavier bullets--but maybe I'm not mixing the right recipe. So what kinda load are you talking about?

Maybe not then. I can usually swap between different bullets of the same weight with very little or no change to the load. Might have to tweak distance from lands but that's about it.

Hasn't been my experience so far--different bullets--different BC's--different designs--different stabilization characteristics, but I haven't tried that many different powder combinations. What are the powder/weight recipes you're using?
