Anybody use one of the pacific tool and gauge savage replacement bolt bodies or one of their bolt heads? I tried the search but it never turns up any matches.

Please, absolutely! let me know if it requires any fitting and any issues you may run into.
Had .011-.012" slop between the bolt body and receiver on my PTA. The standard .700" PTG body gave me ~.003" clearance after the swap. There's almost no "hop" when the sear releases now. Had to send the PTG magnum bolt head back for an exchange. The bolt head was machined for a magnum case head, but the lugs were the same dimensions as a .308-family case head. Spoke to Ian at PTG and he said everything would get checked and necessary changes would be made.
I run two of there bolt bodies at .701-.7005 and three of their boltheads, .378, .473 and a PPC. Quality stuff! Got two more bolt bodies and a Magnum SA boltface for my PTA on the way. I bought pin gages from MSC to gage my actions prior to ordering.

Was the bolt head in question a LA or a SA? Only the short action lugs are larger, 9/16 for a SA magnum and 1/2 for long action magnums.
I just got a 223 bolthead for my 17 fb build. Putting it together Tuesday. Looks high quality. May end up with one of thier fluted bolts too.

On PT&G's website they have the option for a Lapua bolt face, Righ Port, short action bolt head. Would this fit into a Savage Target Action?
I ask because I got a hell of a deal on a whole bunch of once fired Lapua brass from a friend and was thinking about getting a 110FCP in 338, but since I already have a RBRP Savage target action lying around(also, good deal that I couldn't pass up) I was wondering if I could just build one. I know a few guys have built 338 edge on the target action, so I'm wondering if this would work.
I would also grab one of the spiral fluted bolt bodies too. This could turn out to be a nice project.

Let us know how the install went. I went ahead and ordered one of the bodies and bolt head from midway for a target action, figured i'd dive in to it.
Thanks to everyone with your input....but, still no one has mentioned how the install of the parts went. Was it easy as swapping out the parts or was there some fitting involved?
I have one of there std diameter fluted bolt bodies and it is a work of art and seemed to fit well.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
If you don't gage it how would you know what diameter to order. You could go with the .6995-.700 standard and hope it fits(it should) or gage it and control the clearances to your specs. They are custom ground to your request.
It was easy as could be. Swapped old parts from the 243 bolt head to the PTG 223 bolt head. Was amazed at how fast it went. There are some good videos on YouTube. The bolt is the smoothest bolt of either of my 2 savages, or my dads 3. We both agreed it is worth the extra over a factory bolt head. I don't have the PTG bolt body, but probably will in the near future.
Bolt body gets rid of the wiggles. It was .007 bigger, but not too tight.
That's good to know. That is my only complaint about my savages. May have to look into one of these.

so how is the cocking ramp on the ptg bolt body? machined any different than a factory savage? smoother?

I used both the PT&G fluted bolt and the bolt head on my most recent build and am very happy with the results. With a trued and timed action and a tighter fitting bolt, it is smooth as butter.
I just ordered a fluted bolt body and bolt head for my 110BA. The customer service there is great! I placed my order by phone instead of online because I needed order items I didn't see online. I was told that they allow .002 in bolt body clearance. My reciever was .703 so ordered .701 bolt body. Hopefully all my stuff is to me in about 4 weeks and I'll update.
I see they do a Nat Lambeth inspired complete bolt. I take it this can be spec'd to the right bolt body diameter? Would this be a direct swap with no headspace change? Would be nice to run this on my target rifle and use the old lrpv bolt in my stevens so I can run a 308 bolt face in it and can just swap bolts then.
Anyone use there BDM bottom metal kit they have? Take it this could be put on a stevens?

Anytime you have a bolthead that is not very close to anotherbolt head being used with the same barrel in the same action the headspace needs to be checked. You could get lucky or you could have both inspected and matched to near exact critical dimensions and the swap would be seamless. That dimension is the distance between the bolt face and the lugs contacting face.

I figured more than likely there would be a little difference at least. I already have my savage target 6.5x55AI barreled etc no nut but working on another build and might just get a whole bolt with 308 bolt face before sending to the smith. Might just go a bolt head though as they seem easy enough to swap over.

How do you measure to see which bolt body you need?
The proper way to measure would be to use gauge pins. slide them in and see which one fits the hole. I simply used a tapered permanent marker. slid it in the back of the receiver until it made contact. marked that location. removed the marker and measured the diameter of the marker where I made the mark. bolt body should be .002 smaller than receiver opening.
