    "New" 170

I traded in to a very nice Model 170 yesterday. Extra clean, bluing a bit browned with age but 100%, pristine bore, only a couple of very minor stock dings ("closet wear"). A quick-n-dirty shooting session today gave me about 3-4" groups dead-on at 100 yards using the iron sights, an improvised rest, and Remington 170 gr. loads -- what I call "1/2 Minute of Deer" accuracy. Fine, as far as I am concerned, since at least 90% of all the shots I'll ever take with this rfle will be 50 yards or less. Everything functioned perfectly, and feeding was slick and positive -- a bit of a relief, as I have read they can be problematic in this regard.

The serial # is A728***. Anyone know the date of manufacture?
