    action mounting spacing model 10


    I know tbut here it goes. How many different action mounting hole spacing for a model 10. I have a 4.275 but I have heard of 4.400", 4.250", 4.500"?????

    2 sizes...4.25 is a 4.275 and a 4.5 is a 4.4. Some people just round to the nearest nominal dimension and some don't know the difference.

    Here ya go. Right from the FAQ section.

    Stangfish is correct but here is more info for you to read up on it. There are actually 3 different short action screw spacings, but only 2(4.275 and 4.400) used the 2 digit model number. The 4.5"(actually 4.522") is Savages first short action, but it carried a 3 digit model number instead of a 2 digit.

    Thanks, I appreciate the info. Always been a remington 700 man, but came across this model 10th and really enjoy shooting it. Time for a savage build.
