    Weaver rails

Sorry for posting this here but you guys are a lot friendlier than remingtonowners.com. I've been trying to find out what Weaver/Picatinny mount fits on my new Remington Model 750 and found that the prices vary tremendously. I've found 3. One from Weaver runs about $9 and has only a few slots - I think 2 in the forward end and 2 at the back. The 2 from EGW are $29 and $49. Both have a complete set of slots. All are 0 MOA so that not the difference. The cheaper EGW has a channel down the center whereas the other does not. What's the deal? They all look like they would start out from the same block of aluminum so it shouldn't be material. And the cheaper EGW looks like it should take more labor than the more expensive one. $9 to $49 for the same thing - CNC milling of an aluminum block?

It's the grade of aluminum that's used that makes the biggest price difference. The Weaver mount, being, that cheap may have sloppier tolerances but I'm not sure on that. The $29 EGW would be their standard model that is made from 6000 series (6061 I believe) aluminum. It's fine for most applications. The $49 model would be an HD and is likely made from 7000 series aluminum which is harder/stronger than the former.

The EGW rail shape comes from an extrusion. Only the slots are machined.

Thanks for the responses. I actually did get a response last night from Remington and they recommended the Weaver. Bought it and a BSA reflex sight today.
