A high brass #4 buck is good to about 40 yds, I load #4 buck in the chamber and a follow up is either 00 buck or BB.
i'm a newbie to coyote hunting. i have been out a few times with no success YET. but i had quite a few run in on me while deer hunting this last gun season in illinois. i was going to head out with my new stevens .243 and want to bring the shotgun along with me. i have a fixed choke barrel in mod. what is a good shell for yotes in that choke? it's a 2 3/4 chamber also. thanks

Number 4 buck is good for coyotes and all kinds of zombies.

I used 1 buck, Knocks them down at 50yds but usually need another shot to stop the flop.
Heard good things about "Dead Coyote" shells by Hevi-Shot but I have not used them myself, Way to pricey!

Dead yote is awsome but, as SteveC said....High $$$
Still if you don't just go burn 'em up they will roll a coyote with AUTHORITY !!
You should shoot a few to see how they pattern from you gun but, even if you don't, out of a mod. choke they should be close enough at 30-40 yards, or closer. A little rough on pelts up close. Been my experiance!
Cutter
The high velocity #5 turkey loads through an extra full choke play heck with the yotes.
Had to defend my decoys a couple of times.
Winchester Supreme Elite #4's !! You'll like them. A little pricey though. $35.00 for 10.
Fur buck!!! (four buck)!!!
Three 44s
I use either 3.5" #4 turkey loads or some leftover #2s that my uncle used on turkey before the regs changed.
T-Shot for me
I have had some good luck with3" Federal copper plated BB's, and they should shoot out of your mod. choke just fine. The trick is finding them. Not too common around here, but not too expensive when you find them as they come in a regular box of 25.
