    .223 and Trailboss

I was reading about fire forming brass with a reduced loads, and that got me to thinking.

I have a can of trailboss I was given. So I'm wondering, would Trailboss work for fire forming .223 brass.

I figured it would be a good way to use this powder up if it was safe and had enough pop to form the brass.

Anyone have any exp. with trailboss in this small of rifle cartridge?

What grain bullet would you use? or are you just going to plug they end, with wax or whatever.
I have shot 30gr bullets out of a 223 using Alliant Unique, That was fun and a pound lasts forever,

I was planning on using some 55 gr FMJ.
I figured my son would get a kick out of shooting them and I would have formed brass in the end.
I'm not really interested in the load so much as fire forming the brass to my chamber.

This is what I would do, I repeat, this is what I would do, I would start with 5 grains of Trailboss and go from there, The FPS should be 1000 to 1200 with plenty of umph to form the brass.

when using trail boss, you use it about like black powder..You fill the case to where the base of the
bullet will be..I have used it in my 22-250 and the 308 sounds wierd...ONE THING THEY WARN
YOU ABOUT IS MAKING SURE THE BULLET COMES OUT OF THE BARREL.....

I think.....and look at the chart....but for a 55gr bullet you use 4gr. and get just over 1,000fps. It's also on my "to do" list. And yes....make sure the bullet clears the barrel!! And why? Because you can. !!
