1/9" & 55g pill ought to print nice small groups. It was a VERY accurate combo in my Savage 22-250.

I'm betting the 55 grain will shoot well unless it as a very thin jacket. 55 grain Hornady SX bullets vaporized when shot from a 1 in 9 Ruger #3. We shoot bunches of Midsouth Varmint Nightmares in three 1 in 9 AR 15s and they are accurate in each as well as in a Savage Model 11 with 1 in 9. I know the .22-250 will spin them a lot faster, but they should still hold together. I am considering a 1 in 9 .22-250 for use on deer with a Barnes 62 grain TXS.
BULL, in capital letters. More than a few newer factory rifles are 1-9 in 22-250 and a 55 is probably the most popular factory load out there, all works just fine.
Years ago I built a 1-8 223 (I had the barrel and thought why not) I had planned on a 1-7 and a 1-12 swap barrel for light and heavies. The 1-8 handled 40's up to 80's with equal accuracy.
You have no worries, Besides the 55's you can use a few 75gr AMAX' w/ 41grs Superformance for 3500ish.............way cool load to 1000.

Centrifugal force, or the "spin" is what kills bullets; NOT the velocity.
Over on shootersforum under the ballistics forum I have 22-call bullets RPM ratings. Or you can ALWAYS call the bullet manufacturer. MOST "premium" or tipped bullets have about a 280-290,000RPM limit. Older, lighter constructed bullets have about a 240-260,000RPM limit. Sierra Blitz has the highest rating of about 310-320,000RPM.

Hornady 22-cal VMax and SP(Not sxsp) are both 290,000 RPM

the 1-9 will shoot the 55s ok but it should shine on the 60 to 75gners ;-}
my 1-9 twist shoot 68 bthp match hornadays and just loves them. i tried the light stuff and could not get none to group.

you might want to give Nosler 40g BT's a try too. I'm not typically a speed demon, but it sure was fun to watch the chrony climb over 4k fps and discover that they indeed all shot into a cloverleaf at 100yds...go figure, I might not have to try the Bergers

they are legal to hunt with in some states just check your local rules and have fun with ;-}
Run a 70-75 grain Berger VLD and you'll be shocked at what they will do in F Class (Open).
+++ 1 with MOA on hunting with them. Some state allow it and some don't.
